Warehouse Expansion Project

The Brief

An independent builders' merchant required full analysis of current stock holdings with a view to maximising stock levels to ensure customer's over the counter sales needs can be met and to make full use of their new 1,400 m2 purpose-built trade counter building.

The Project

Over a one-month period we counted, weighed and documented the existing stock levels and discussed the new stock requirements. Then we designed the racking systems and trade counter area to ensure the goods were stored in the most user-friendly and efficient way.

A scheme of 1000+ linear metres of timber slat shelving on fully adjustable bolt-free longspan was developed utilising a number of unique purpose designed additions to our most popular range.

Some of the specially fabricated features we designed were a hanging panel system for the display of pre-packed items that just clips into the uprights; a series of spigots that clip on the standard shelving beam for the display of forks, spades etc. an MDF divider system to segregate products on given beam levels without the need to add additional beams and frames; and a cable chain and wire dispensing rack that sits inside a pair of standard beams.

The building was designed with an integral fire protected mezzanine, using white column cases and fascia, plus a suspended ceiling over the entire area. We also provided fire rated stairwells and all steel public access staircases to the first floor.

In addition, we designed and provided a series of purpose-built wooden counters with glass display cases and secure storage areas for the trade counter sales and accounts areas at the front of the new building.
